The No-Fail Guide To Attracting More Traffic To Your Website

You’ve tried everything.

You crafted high-quality, valuable content that anyone would be lucky to devour. Your promotion strategy is on point.

Yet your website traffic remains stagnant.

Let’s get that fixed.

In this article, I’ll share 9 strategies to help you put your traffic generation efforts back on track.

1. Create a content marketing strategy

Between content marketing plans, social media plans, and your email marketing plan – you’ve got enough on your plate.

Let’s face it.

Your website traffic is the driving force behind your online business.

You can’t afford to ignore making a strategic plan.

Think about it like this:

Your business started with a business plan.

Your content is carefully planned out with a content marketing strategy.

You meticulously plan out your email strategy too.

So why wouldn’t you take the same care when it comes to the foundation of your lead generation?

It’s all-too-easy to decide to throw in the towel on the planning process. But, it can cost you in the long-run.

You’ll spend far more hours with trial and error – never figuring out what works and what doesn’t.

The secret?

You don’t need to do any of that. Find what works for you. Change or add to it as you see what works – and you’ll be on your way to grow your traffic to new heights.

Crafting a winning traffic generation strategy can bring your business to a whole new level – if you execute it right.

2. Jump head-first into Quora

Chances are if you’ve ever used the internet, you’ve taken part in a discussion on an online forum.

And that’s exactly what Quora is.

It’s used for hundreds of topics. But for business owners, solopreneurs, and bloggers –  it’s an online forum like no other.

There’s a whole slew of popular influencers and business owners who take part in the discussions on Quora. Some on a weekly basis, and some make an appearance every day.

On Quora, you have the ability to answer questions to help others. In the process, you can link as much as you please to your own website or blog posts.

Here’s a clip of a question someone asked, and Neil Patel jumped in to answer:

He links to his own websites, but it provides tremendous value always. It’s win-win for Quora members and the business owners, like Neil.

As long as you’re providing genuine value to the people on the forum, Quora is a goldmine.

3. Optimize your website and content for your target audience

It’s incredible to accumulate 100,000 page views per month.  But, if only a tiny percentage of those are high-quality, targeted visits –  then you’re not looking at loads of leads or conversions.

It all comes back to the base of your entire business: your target market.

You need to know your customers and/or clients inside and out.  Not knowing is a deal breaker in today’s inbound marketing.

You can’t sell to someone if you don’t know what they like.

You can’t help someone if you don’t know their struggles.

You’d be wasting time and resources that could be spent elsewhere in your business if you even tried.

If you’re attracting all sorts of people with varying interests, desires, and struggles – you haven’t narrowed down your target market enough.

Get as specific as possible. You don’t want to appeal to everybody.

The website traffic that pours in should always be targeted.

How to narrow down your target market to gain more leads:

  • Decide on gender and demographics
  • Think of your target market as one person, instead of a whole group
  • Find out their greatest struggles
  • Conduct market research to discover their pain points, desires, and biggest wants

Not everybody will be interested in purchasing your products or services.

But the right people always will.

They’re the type of people who will wait eagerly every week for your emails.

They’ll bookmark your blog posts.

And they’ll turn into raving and loyal fans who buy everything as fast as you put it out there.

4. Get on the video marketing bandwagon

If you haven’t introduced video into your content marketing strategy – now’s the time.

You’re missing out on massive quantities of website traffic, leads, and sales in your business.

By 2019, a staggering 80% of the internet’s traffic will be video.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Where can you utilize video marketing to up your traffic game?

  • Start doing Facebook Live videos in your Facebook group
  • Do Facebook Lives on your Facebook page
  • Start a YouTube Channel
  • Repurpose your Facebook Lives and YouTube videos to put on your website’s blog
  • Create live videos on Instagram as part of your social media strategy

The beauty of these types of video content is that they can be repurposed – over and over.

Repurposing saves you time – and it will help to spread your videos far and wide.

Producing any type of video is great for business. But, you may want to concentrate your efforts on live videos to see the greatest impact on your traffic.

Wherever you utilize video marketing – your conversion rates will thank you, and your website traffic will begin to soar.

5. Take headlines to the next level

If you don’t deliver an awe-inspiring headline, you’re doomed from the start.

It doesn’t matter if your content is jam-packed with value.

You’ll never get the chance to dazzle them with your quality content.

80% of people will read your headline, but only 20% of them will find it click-worthy enough to read your post.

How to craft headlines that bring in surges of website traffic:

  • Use powerful adjectives and power words
  • Use numbers whenever possible (odd numbers are especially captivating.)
  • Provoke curiosity
  • Pique their interest with a sense of urgency

One thing is for sure – numbers are attention-grabbers in headlines.

If you want to have traffic flocking to your website, you shouldn’t shy away from using numbers whenever you can.

Just take a look at how people respond to headlines with numbers in them:

6. Update old posts that performed well

It’s all-too-easy to forget about those brilliant evergreen articles you wrote 2 years ago.

They fade away until they die completely if they aren’t given any love.  Giving you zero shot at benefiting from them in your business.

A lot can change in 2 years, so updating that post for relevance and accuracy is paramount if you want it to continue to bring in website traffic.

How to update and optimize an older post:

  • Look for any errors or inaccuracy first and foremost
  • Check your keywords and consider switching them out for better-performing ones
  • Remove any fluff (unnecessary words that don’t provide value)
  • Add new and relevant information (look at currents trends and statistics)
  • Create a new content upgrade for each post to improve conversions
  • Start promoting that post everywhere! Ensure it’s included in your regular social media strategy using your favorite social media tool.

Just don’t forget: don’t touch your URL slugs when you’re updating your older content.

If you change the URL, every single URL to that post before you changed it will go to the infamous ‘’404 page’’. So if that post is on Pinterest 2000 times – that’s 2000 links to a 404 page!

Not a great way to keep people on your website long enough to make conversions!

If you find there isn’t a way around changing your URL slug, be sure to redirect any old URLs.

If you use WordPress, there are plenty of plugins to choose from. One of the most popular free option is Redirection:

But from a performance perspective, it’s best to add redirects manually whenever possible. Check out Blogging Wizard’s tutorial on how to add 301 redirects to learn more.

7. Connect with other business owners in your niche

A large part of running a business, especially online – is building lasting relationships.

I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times: connect with your customers and/or clients. But what you’re missing is outreaching with others in your niche.

It may seem like this would have a low ROI, but it’s actually the opposite if done correctly.

By reaching out to other business owners or solopreneurs in your niche, you begin to build relationships that will help you with more than just your website traffic.

Easy ways to build relationships that lead to increased traffic:

  • Find influencers and well-known business owners in your niche on social media
  • Start sharing any valuable content they post (they may reciprocate)
  • Comment on their blogs with worthwhile comments
  • Join Facebook groups relevant to your niche
  • Begin email outreach with these same people (these outreach tools will help)
  • Conduct roundup posts with your favorite business owners

If you’re a new business owner, this may seem extremely frightening to put yourself and your brand out there.

The good news?

Very few people will actually reject your advances. Because they know the power of building a network, and they’ve been in your shoes.

8. Use Linkedin as a traffic generation machine

Linkedin is a well-known place to search for and obtain employment. So it may come as a surprise that it’s also a fantastic way to grow your website traffic.

When you’re researching or searching the web, I bet you see your fair share of articles coming straight from Linkedin, right?

This is because Linkedin allows you to share your content, and also write content on the platform itself.

If you don’t already have one, build an eye-catching profile for your business. Then start sharing blog posts and writing content directly on the platform.

While you’re at it, join groups within Linkedin, and connect with as many people in your niche or industry as possible.

This will bring traffic back to your website – and you’ll begin to gain quality leads and start making money.

9. Focus on earning backlinks

Let’s face it. Google decides your destiny if you focus solely on SEO to grow your business online.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t put time and effort into SEO. You should just concentrate on the right strategies.

One of the best strategies to get you to the top? Backlinks. Think of them like a popularity contest in the business world.

As your business grows, your backlinks will flourish naturally –  if you produce stellar content.

But there are strategies you can employ to get a ball rolling a little faster.

How to earn backlinks to amp up your traffic:

  • Open up a free SEMrush account, (or get a free trial if you have a credit card on you) and investigate your competitor’s link profiles. Focus on replicating the best ones for your site.
  • Guest post on authoritative sites and sites that are popular in your niche
  • Involve influencers in the creation of your content from the outset
  • Participate in roundup posts and create your own
  • Reach out to other influencers when you’ve mentioned them in your content
  • Launch an outreach campaign to promote your content to influencers in your niche or industry
  • Use HARO (HelpAReporterOut.com) to get featured in media outlets
